Vons Payment Methods

The front of a Vons grocery store.

If you’d like to pay reasonable prices for a wide variety of groceries, you can shop at Vons. This store sells everything from basic essentials to specialty items, although it doesn’t carry as many specialty groceries as specialized health-food stores. Anyway, here are your payment options at Vons.

This traditional grocery store gives you more ways to pay your bill than other grocery stores. Like other supermarkets, it accepts large bills and personal checks. You can also use PayPal and Venmo QR codes to pay for your groceries at the store and its self-checkout terminals support these options as well. Its point-of-sale terminals also accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other mobile wallets that use contactless payments.

Like other Albertsons brand stores such as Safeway, Pavilions, and Albertsons itself, Vons doesn’t accept payments from mobile wallets for online purchases. You can still use a credit card or debit card to shop online there, though. And again, this store accepts all of the most widely used mobile wallets for in-store purchases.

You can also use several additional payment methods at this grocery store. Unlike other grocery stores, Vons accepts Zip and Sezzle. Since BNPL works there, PayPal credit should also work there. Additionally, Vons accepts EBT for purchases of qualifying items for both in-store and online purchases. It has signed up for the SNAP online purchasing pilot program.

Many people want to know if they can use EBT at the pop-up Starbucks cafes inside Vons stores and the answer is yes. But because Vons doesn’t participate in the Restaurant Meals program you can only buy products from Starbucks that qualify under the standard EBT program rules. As far as I know, Vallarta is the only grocery store that participates in the RMP and that’s because it has in-store food courts with seating areas so it’s effectively a restaurant as well as a supermarket.

But while Vons does have in-store pharmacies as well, it doesn’t accept CareCredit. This payment option is only available at a few retail stores, including Walgreens, Rite Aid, Sam’s Club, and Walmart. It’s primarily used for financing medical bills, although that includes eye exams and prescription glasses as well as other healthcare services that some stores offer.

More Information About Vons

This is a traditional grocery store with multiple departments including in-store pharmacies. Its stores have bakeries, delis, frozen food sections, and produce sections. Many of them also have pop-up Starbucks cafes. Vons’ merchandise selection may vary depending on the store’s location and stores in upscale LA neighborhoods will stock premium health food that’s typically sold at stores like Whole Foods.

Additionally, this grocery store has moderate prices. It has higher prices than discount stores like Walmart but it’s not as expensive as health-food stores like Whole Foods. You can sign up for its loyalty program to receive additional discounts on groceries. Additionally, you can earn rewards points by shopping there and if you collect enough points you’ll get a free sandwich from its deli.

More Grocery Stores Where You Can Pay With Apple Pay

The warehouse-style grocery store Smart & Final is also a supplier for restaurants and other organizations and it sells many products in bulk. Its First Street private-label groceries are also very affordable.

Another traditional grocery store, Ralphs is owned by Kroger and sells Kroger’s high-quality private-label products. Its private-label line includes health food that’s very expensive at health food stores.

The deep-discount grocery store Grocery Outlet is an outlet store for groceries. You might be able to buy health food for an 80 percent discount there. But Grocery Outlet’s stock also varies so if you’re looking for specific products you’re more likely to find them at Vons.

If you’re looking for a wider selection of health food, Sprouts is a specialized health food store that also sells products for vegan, keto, and gluten-free diets. Like other health-food stores, it also stocks lots of vitamins and supplements.

Another popular health-food store in Southern California, Lassens also offers a wide selection of natural and organic foods. Its delis also sell prepared vegan and vegetarian food that’s not available elsewhere.

If you want a larger selection of Hispanic groceries including imported products from Mexico, you can visit Vallarta Supermarkets. Another unique thing about this supermarket is that it has food courts with indoor dining areas.
