Unlike a few other auto service shops, Pep Boys has an online store and you can also buy parts online from its website. If you’re visiting a Pep Boys service shop you can use cash, credit cards, and mobile wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay to pay your bill there. Some Pep Boys locations may also accept personal checks, which is noteworthy because many service shops no longer accept them.

You can’t use PayPal or Venmo at this service shop, though, and its online store doesn’t take Apple Pay or Google Pay either.

It is noteworthy that Pep Boys has its own branded credit card because some auto service shops don’t have them. Like many other stores’ credit cards, the Pep Boys credit card is issued by Synchrony Bank. The Synchrony Car Care card should also work at this repair shop.

While Pep Boys doesn’t support most BNPL apps, you can use Zip to split your repair bill into installments there. That might be useful to know because auto repairs are often expensive.

More Information About This Auto Service Shop

Originally, Pep Boys operated lots of retail stores in Los Angeles and you’ll see them in many retro photographs. When the company pivoted to primarily providing services, it sold many of these stores to Advance Auto Parts. Pep Boys is still a major auto service shop brand, though. It provides services such as oil changes, tire replacements, and brake replacements. Additionally, it provides vehicle inspections that you need to register your car so you can drive it on the road in California.

Other Service Shops and Parts Stores That Take Apple Pay

The auto repair shop Meineke also offers auto services such as oil changes and vehicle inspections. It provides inspections for third-party ride-sharing and delivery services as well.

Originally an auto repair shop that specialized in mufflers, Midas now provides a variety of maintenance services as well as inspections.

If you’d prefer to buy parts and fix your car yourself, you can also visit O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Many of the former Pep Boys stores are now Advance Auto Parts stores. While they’ve been rebranded, they still sell a variety of auto parts for reasonable prices.

There are also a lot of independent auto parts stores in Southern California that have joined NAPA Auto Parts. Product selection varies at these stores because their owners decide what parts to stock, and some NAPA stores also carry truck parts.
